Shrijeet Mukherjee (leader and 2nd degree black belt) started training in 2000, at Stanford University under Manfred Chiu and Danny Afar. When he is not practicing karate, Shrijeet is the VP of Software Engineering at Cumulus Networks, a startup specializing in computer networks.
Craig Hamman (yodan, 4th degree black belt) started training in 1981 under France Borka at the Auburn Dojo, in Auburn, CA and was promoted to yodan in 2000. Of particular note is Mr. Ohshima officiated at all of Craig’s black belt tests. In 1983 Craig founded the Alta Dojo in Alta, CA and in 1986 founded the Chico Dojo at Chico State University. In 1989 Craig moved to the San Jose area and practiced at Stanford University with Jim Sagawa until 1995. In 1995 he co-founded the Saratoga Dojo with Manfred Chiu, where he remains Saratoga’s lead instructor.
Cyndi Jung (sandan, 3rd degree black belt) began training karate in 1975 at the California Institute of Technology with Ohshima Sensei. She continued training in Oakland while attending UC Berkeley, and helped establish the Palo Alto dojo when she graduated in 1977 and moved to the penninsula. She was promoted by Ohshima Sensei to sandan ( 3rd degree black belt) in 1983. Cyndi is retired from a 30+ year engineering career and teaches a mobility exercise class called “Joint Point – Forever Fit” at the Menlo Park Recreation Center.
